After my previous post, I realized that I really need to devote some time to self-care so, I declared the following weekend to be my Weekend of Self Care. (Of course the ultimate goal is to work self-care into my daily routine but, since this is an especially busy time of year for me where I practically live at the office, the thought of trying to squeeze personal time into the workweek right now is more stressful than stress-relieving.) It’s amazing to me that something we do automatically our entire lives can have such an immediate positive effect on our being whenever done consciously. I’m coming to realize that anything done with mindfulness becomes a joyous act… but nothing demonstrates this more clearly than conscious breathing.
