Baby Steps Are Good

Baby steps are good.

Baby Steps are good. Baby steps are fine. Baby steps are necessary. This is what I have to keep reminding myself whenever I feel like I’m not moving fast enough or efficient enough. At some point (I don’t think I was always like this) I came to believe that I have to have everything figured out, ready to be executed perfectly, before I can share my creation/service/performance with anyone. Obviously this is an aspect of my perfectionism, an aspect that I am actively trying to overcome.

I keep reminding myself that it’s okay to stumble, I don’t have to take off at a full sprint. In fact, it’s not only okay, it’s preferable. You’ve gotta walk before you can run, right? Continue reading Baby Steps Are Good

Valentine’s Day brings up a lot of issues for people, whether single or in a relationship, because there’s just so much romantic expectation heaped onto this one day.  If you’re single, Valentine’s Day can be depressing because you’re surrounded by reminders that you don’t have a partner; if you’re in a relationship there’s pressure (mostly on the man) to create some grand gesture of love, possibly even to propose, and so much potential for disappointment if it doesn’t live up to their partner’s romantic fantasies. Hi, my name is Jilienne, and I’m a perfectionist.  A recovering perfectionist!  Realizing you have a problem is the first step, right?  I’ve identified this personal issue before (see my very first blog post) but I’m still working on it.  Apparently this isn’t something you can just “get over.”  I’ve been diving into the psychology of the subject, trying to get to the root of the issue and hopefully eliminate it. How To “Be Who You Are”

Be who YOU are.

A few days ago, I tuned into Hay House Radio on my way home from work (which is my normal routine) and was pleased to hear Anita Moorjani being interviewed by Diane Ray.  Anita authored the book “Dying To Be Me”, in which she tells the story of her near death experience while in a coma caused by terminal cancer and how she has used what she learned during her NDE to heal her life.  Her story is truly inspiring and I encourage you to look her up!  I’ve heard Anita speak a few times and, although I’m sure she has said this during every talk, on this particular day the message that kept jumping out at me was “Be who you are!”  In a synchronistic twist that emphasized the point, the license plate on the car in front of me while listening to this interview was BHUYUR.  Message received, Universe!
